When can I buy it in India? What about the Wi-Fi + 3G version? Will it work in India? The Wi-Fi only version will work anywhere, and you can pick one up from the US starting March this year. The launch date for India is not disclosed but it may not be very soon. The 3G version uses a new type of SIM card called the micro SIM (less than half the size of a standard SIM card, meant for smaller devices). Needless to say, you don’t get the micro SIM in India, and Apple will have to partner with a service provider to get the 3G version here.
What about the app store? Can I access that using the iPad?Yes the iPad can access and is compatible with most of the apps on the Apple App Store. Although, since the iPad screen is much higher resolution, expect a lot of fuzziness (unless the apps themselves get updates with higher resolutions).
Will the next version have a lot more features?Probably. Let’s say that they will add a front and/or rear facing camera, GPS and a display port (video out) at least. Storage will most likely get a bump and maybe, just maybe it’ll get a mini or micro USB host port so that you can connect a digital camera to it directly.
What about the name? No trademark disputes there? Surprising.Actually, when we first thought that Apple would name their new product the ‘iTablet’, we saw a problem with the owners of the trademark, Taiwanese company Amtek. Turns out that the iPad is also a device sold by Fujitsu since 2002. But here’s the kicker: another company called Mag-Tek already owns the iPad trademark since last year. They’re not likely to back down either.
