The portable experience today is something that no one would want to miss anymore. Today the times are such that everyone wants to have a portable media player that gives the maximum value for money. Here are some recommendations for audio devices that will help you choose what suits your needs and your pocket.

Under Rs 5,000

1. Cowon iAudio E2 (Rs 2,900) - The Cowon E2 is one of the most beautiful MP3 players we have seen. The little beauty has minimalistic keyring style and has an all plastic build. It comes with 4GB onboard storage with outstanding sound quality. The device has around 10 hours of playback battery life with simple to use controls and rich audio enhancements.

2. Sony NWX-B153 (Rs 3,990) - This USB shaped MP3 player comes with 4GB capacity and has a 3-line LCD display on top. It features quick charge technology that provides 3 hours of backup on a mere 3 minutes of charging! It has 18 hours of battery life, FM tuner, Voice/FM recording and a dedicated bass enhancement button.

Rs 5,000 - Rs 8,000

1. Sony NWZ-E454 (Rs 6,990) - The 8GB walkman from Soy is available in fun colors and a 2" color display. It comes with sound enhancement features like Virualphones, SensMe and clear audio technology. It can play various music formats as well as Videos of MP4 format. The player boasts of unto 50 hrs of battery life.

2. Samsung YP Q1CB (Rs 8,000) - The Q1 from Samsung boasts of DNSe 3.0 that provides natural and fuller sound. It has 8GB memory and comes with a 2.4" TFT LCD display. The PMP has FM Radio and plays a host of music formats alongwith WMV/MP4 videos. Moreover it has TTS (Text to Speech) available that reads any text in several different languages and converts them into MP3 format.

Rs 8,000 - Rs 11,000)

1. Philips Go Gear Muse ( Rs 9,400) - The philips muse comes with a 3.2" HVGA touchscreen display in a sexy metallic finish. The PMP comes with sound isolation headphones, FLAX & APE loseless codec supper tanned innovative FullSound technology to provide the best music output. It has FM radio with RDS, microSD slot for expansion and even comes with HDMI out!

2. Apple iPod nano ( Rs 10,700) - The new iPod nano has gone through complete redesign and now comes with a 1.54" multi-touch display. Not only that, it has Stereo FM with Live pause, pedometer and an all new clip design. The player weighs a mere 21g and even features an accelerometer in the slim design. Sadly, the new nano doesn't play videos.

Rs 11,000 and above

1. Cowon S9 (Rs 11,999) - The Cowon S9 features a brilliant 3.3" AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. It comes with 16GB onboard storage alongwith FM and Line-in functionality. The stylish PMP supports Xvid and DivX video playback, has Bluetooth 2.0 with superior audio and video playback. It gives around 10 hours of video playback on a full charge and 40 hours on music playback.

2. Apple iPod touch Rs 14,400 (8GB); Rs 19,900 (32GB) - A definite winner, the fourth generation iPod Touch is an amazing device to have. A style statement for sure, the device is insanely thin and has a stainless steel design. It has a 3.5-inch wide-screen multi-touch Retina display. It comes with a front and back camera for facetime video conferencing and general camera use as well. It is a media player, pocket computer and a portable gaming device all rolled into one. It features multi-tasking, Wi-Fi, accelerometer, ambient light sensor, 3D graphics, 3.5 mm headphone jack and weighs all of 101 grams.
